Most recently within the foodservice industry, it has become extremely important that businesses are considering the issue of energy efficiency and how they can improve their green credentials.
This is something that Proline has successfully implemented into our products with a focus on highlighting the use of energy efficient features, which can also help clients to achieve their BREEAM targets.
Helping the end user to look after the environment whilst saving on costs, the features used within our counters brings a range of benefits to the end user whilst being functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Induction
Induction cooking is becoming more prominent in the UK foodservice market and is something that Proline are pleased to offer within our counters.
Previously, ceramic glass hot plates were used to heat and showcase food, however, induction units are much more energy efficient. As induction only heats the pan, the heat in the servery area is then dramatically reduced when compared to traditional counter displays where the heat comes from both above and below with quartz heat lamps.
Induction can also save the user significant amounts in costs and is also the safest cooking method over gas and electric due to the fact that there are no flames or directly heated surfaces. Using induction also allows for easy cleaning and precise control which means better temperature control leading to consistent results.
LED lighting
Proline provides special lighting within our counters using LED lighting, which lasts significantly longer than standard bulbs whilst being energy efficient. With an 80-90 efficiency, this means that 80-90% of the energy is turned into light rather than heat, which in turn results in a much cooler environment.
They also have little UV emissions and produce very little infra-red light which makes LED ideal for use in storage facilities, such as counters, as they do not degrade stored materials by either UV or heat. LED lights can also work well in extreme temperatures such as cold environments, meaning they are ideal for use within our chilled counter units.
Water cooled hydrocarbon refrigeration systems
Proline actively encourages the use of water-cooled compressors over traditional air-cooled counter units as these can release a lot of unwanted heat into the atmosphere. Water-cooled units, however, are designed to be much more energy efficient and generate less heat, which in turn means a cooler environment.
Water-cooled units also have a greater lifespan and are much quieter when in use compared to air-cooled units. In places such as garden centres for example which are usually warm, the additional heat that comes from air-cooled units only adds to the humidity and can be avoided using water-cooled chillers.
